The Egyptian government sets steps to activate electricity rationalization measures to exploit and export gas to save foreign exchange

Today, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, held a meeting; To follow up the executive steps to activate electricity rationalization procedures, with the aim of exploiting the gas that is pumped into power stations, exporting it, and then providing foreign exchange, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy, Minister of Local Development, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Assem Al-Jazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and officials of the concerned authorities.

The Prime Minister began the meeting by noting that the Egyptian state is currently working on investing the most important resource it currently possesses, which is natural gas, to which huge investments have been directed over the past period. In light of the global crisis that the countries of the world are going through, especially the energy crisis that has affected various countries of the world.

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly said: In this context, we are currently working to increase our capabilities to the extent that we can export the largest amount of gas, which called on the government to start implementing a national plan to rationalize electricity consumption to achieve the state’s goals in providing gas used in power stations in an effort to export it and increase our resources of foreign exchange.

The Prime Minister added: The government itself has started implementing the rationalization plan, and there are decisions that will be sent to all ministries within the framework of implementing this plan, including the complete shutdown of the electric current after the end of official working hours, except for service buildings, as well as not lighting any government building from outside, Stadiums, indoor halls and stadiums will also be closed at a specific hour during night periods, as well as commercial malls.

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly also directed the implementation of a clear plan, so that the operation of air conditioners in major malls, and buildings that operate with central air conditioning, will be at a temperature of 25 degrees or more.

During the meeting, the Minister of Youth and Sports presented an overview of the measures taken by the Ministry to rationalize electricity consumption in youth and sports facilities, which are divided into administrative, executive and preventive measures. The headquarters of the Directorates of Youth and Sports, and all youth and sports facilities.

While the executive procedures included the issuance of instructions for youth centers and clubs to adhere to the operating dates in accordance with the specified closing dates, and the standardization of work with energy-saving “LED” headlights in lighting all stadiums in youth and sports facilities, in addition to reducing the lighting of stadiums after the end of activities, and reducing the consumption of air conditioners in halls and halls after the activities ended. And many other measures related to gyms and stadiums, and youth and sports facilities, with regard to preventive measures to raise awareness of the importance of rationalizing electricity.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Prime Minister also called on citizens to rationalize personal consumption of electricity, in conjunction with rationalization in ministries, governorates and various government agencies. In order to achieve integration with the government’s plan, in order to achieve the state’s goals in this regard, noting that there will be executive decisions from the Council of Ministers in this matter soon.
