Expert Heinz J. Sturm Founder & CEO of ICEPS CTC Bonn: UAE seeks an influential summit that “changes the rules of the game in the military sector”

German Armed Forces and those of the NATO want and need to be independent and green

Interviewer: Mohamed.El.Darwish

The military and defence sectors have the same problems alike civilian sector, both need to take urgent action to address the energy crisis.

German Armed Forces and those of the NATO want and need to be independent and green.

Quick solutions are called for independence from Electricity Grid and Oil and Fuel supply it must be Green and best with Hydrogen.

Green hydrogen and circular economy in the military sector how come?

Mr. Heinz J. Sturm: The energy self-sufficiency and the production of fuels on the basis of green hydrogen in the camp directly result in many direct advantages in addition to the necessary climate protection measures and the C02 reduction.

This must be communicated to the military.

Here is brief information; the security of energy supply in military properties must be guaranteed and is therefore always a top priority.

It mostly depends on easy operation of the energy supply infrastructure, low external dependence on fuel transports as well as short supply routes.

In addition, the self – sufficient energy supply of military infrastructure increases the operational readiness as well as the security of military forces.

In this context, supplying military properties with regionally produced fuel can ideally complement the objectives of the armed forces.

In our view, this form of energy is based on hydrogen and synthetic fuels that can be produced with the help of proven German technology through the use of the sun, the utilization of waste, and locally available biomass, and can be stored without pressure at ambient temperatures.

Green Hydrogen and green synthetic fuels bring advantages to Military activities, right?

Mr. Heinz J. Sturm: yeah, thus offer the best framework conditions for military use, both for fixed infrastructure and for mobile applications.

In addition to reducing the logistical footprint, the deployment of military forces to secure the supply of fuels and the associated human losses, the use of hydrogen allows the production of drinking water on site.

This is produced during the conversion of hydrogen into electricity and can therefore take over the supply of military forces with drinking water.

This means that drilling wells and creating/transporting drinking water can be dispensed with and the military forces tied up for this purpose can be used for primary military objectives.

By generating electrical energy and drinking water with the help of hydrogen, the existing military infrastructure can continue to be used without restriction.

This creates an ideal interface to existing military equipment/infrastructure, combining both the military and economic advantages of both technologies.

Taking into account military literature on the supply of energy and water to armed forces, the use of modern fuels green fuels can reduce military losses by 70 percent; is this statement is yours?

Mr. Heinz J. Sturm: this refers to the fact that the energy in the form of fuel, soon in the form of green hydrogen, does not have to be transported to the camp via dangerous routes, as diesel fuel has been until now, but is produced directly in the camp, on site. Complete self-sufficiency is being created, and this is something that needs to be worked on.

For all military camps in the areas of operation in many countries of the world, including the Arab countries.

Let me explain, this method can both reduce military losses and significantly increase supply security through self-sufficient, local supply infrastructure.

In the future, the comprehensive supply concepts with energy and water will be developed and realized at CTC Bonn by experts/engineers through many specialist areas as an overall solution for the operational properties. We believe that there are imminent changes in the rules of the game, also in the military sector.

We need Green Hydrogen Defence Technology.

For the transition from the age of fossil oil to post-fossil times, with Innovative green hydrogen gas and electrical energy technology in combination in the armed forces.
