Arabian Steel Industries Technical Advisor

The transition to a green future… Specifically, the transition to a zero-emission and zero-waste projects is not only necessary to stop climate change, but it is also a policy for sustainable economic growth with the potential to create a new generation of academic, scientific, and professional sustainable projects and disciplines necessary for what can be described as … “Green Projects” and “Green Jobs” … They are jobs that are concerned with following up and achieving multiple and important goals to achieve the transition to a green future.

They can also be described as jobs that are directly aimed at protecting the nature, environment and preserving the rights of nature that seek to minimize the impact on the health of the planet and all its inhabitants.

In the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), green jobs have been defined as…
“Jobs in agriculture, manufacturing, R&D, administrative and service projects and activities aimed at maintaining or significantly restoring environmental quality.”

In other words, environmental jobs.

They are those that aim to protect and promote the environment and its rights or those that take into account their impact on the health of the planet and all its inhabitants at all times and seek to reduce them.

According to the International Labor Organization (ILO), this type of specialization and jobs are, … Firstly, increases energy, raw materials efficiency and… Secondly it reduces greenhouse gas emissions and… Thirdly, it reduces waste, pollution and… fourthly protects and restores ecosystems and finally, and… Fifth, it contributes to adaptation to climate change.

These green jobs are also important in terms of their impact on the global economy.

The ILO has warned that if no change is made to achieve those jobs, future employment growth will not be sufficient to meet the needs of the growth in the labor force in emerging and developing countries.

However, “changes in energy production and use with the aim of reducing 2°C may create about … “18 million jobs in the global economy,” as the organization explains in its 2018 Global Employment and Social forestation report.

These will include changes, aimed at complying with the Paris Agreement and generating green jobs, the more comprehensive use of energy from renewable sources, for example, the shift to the implementation of construction work (green buildings) to achieve energy efficiency in buildings.

It is possible to identify the projects sectors that are expected to flourish with green jobs, which are those projects or sectors that include: –

The Energy projects sector

where the world faced many problems during the years 2020 and 2021, and still during 2022, which affected the size and structure of energy demand.

Employment, including this sector, has been profoundly affected by various types of restrictions in place, which have put pressure on supply chains and led to a significant restriction of economic activity.

The Agriculture Projects sector

The report announced in 2022, organic food and beverage sales increased by 15% globally as the historic growth witnessed in 2020 was driven by increased consumer interest in organic food.

North America and Europe account for most sales, with a combined share of 90%.

However, most of the growth currently comes from Asian countries where organic food markets have gained importance in countries such as China, India, and South Korea.

The Eco-tourism projects sector

In a society that increasingly cares about the health of the planet, ecotourism is moving in an upward direction.

This sector creates jobs related to many active people and the quest to discover protected areas, as well as the regeneration of rural areas, and seeks to identify ecological villages that are at risk of disappearing.

Transport projects Sector

This sector is responsible for more than 30% of carbon dioxide emissions, of which more than 70% come from road transport. Many countries have already adopted measures to significantly reduce transport emissions.

The EU is seeking to reduce these by 60% compared to 1990 levels to 2050, creating jobs in the electric vehicle sector, public transport, and modern electrified rail transport.

Welcome to green projects and green jobs to solve the problems of increasing manpower … and working on increasing jobs availability
