Dr.Fawzy Younis: Capacity Building and Climate Work in Government Institutions and Civil Society
Desert Research Centre - Director of Open Dialogues on Climate Change
Within the framework of the Arab Republic of Egypt’s presidency of the climate action agreement for this year.
And in preparation for the upcoming COP28 climate conference, and conducting an open dialogue on climate change in Egypt to monitor challenges and provide solutions.
“Misr Foundation for Rehabilitation and Development” , in cooperation with “The Egyptian Future International Academy for Training”, headed by Dr. Safinaz Habib, Ambassador of Global Peace to the United Nations, hosted the First Environmental Forum on “Sustainability and Climate Action”.
The Forum held an open dialogue under the title “ The Role of Sustainability in Reducing Climate Change ”.

The Forum was attended by:
Prof. Dr. Hany Abdel Salam, Professor of Biology and Marine Environment, Faculty of Science, Banha University.
• Prof. Dr. Noha Donia, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Environmental Studies, Ain Shams University.
• Dr. Atef Al-Ghandour, Dean of the Arab Academy for Training and Consulting, ATC MISR.
• Prof. Dr. Fawzy Younis, Professor and Head of the Acclimatization Physiology Unit at the Desert Research Center and Director of the Climate Change Open Dialogue.
During the meeting, some sustainable ideas were reviewed by a number of students.

* The first project about “Clean & Green”
Supervised by: Prof. Hoda Mostafa, Head of the Science Department in the preparatory stage at Madinaty Integrated Language School a group of students participated:
1- Timur Mahmoud
2- Ali Shadi
3- Ruqayyah Mahmoud
4- Remas Muhammad
5- Razan Ahmed
They submitted a project entitled “Clean & Green”, where they recycled frying oil and soap industry in order to achieve sustainable development goals No. 12 and 13. “Climate Action, Responsible consumption”.
** Second project about “Speedy Swap”
By Aya Hawash Speedy Swap is an innovative app that revolutionizes the car buying and selling process. With a user-friendly online platform, it eliminates paperwork and the need for multiple visits to government offices.
By streamlining the process, Speedy Swap saves time and energy for users.
Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 9, it enhances infrastructure, promotes innovation, and contributes to sustainable development.

* The third project about “Biofuel”

Biofuel is a sustainable and clean source of energy that reduces pollution and greenhouse gases. It is made using used frying oil, NaOH, and Methanol. It achieves sustainable development goals 7,12,13.
** Fourth Project:”Smart shoes”

Smart shoes are designed to convert kinetic energy from footsteps to electric energy by the piezo element placed at the base of the shoes.
It achieves sustainable development goals 7,12,13. Piezoelectric elements produce electricity that powers a sensor placed on the shoes so that the blind user can detect objects in front of them.
This electricity powers the GPS module positioned on the shoes.
The discussion was objectly held which enrich the dialogue and the idea.

The most important recommendations of the forum and open dialogue:
1. The importance of establishing the environmental club in each school and a college and its role in building cognitive capacity and attention to climate work (monitoring challenges and solvents) and sustainable development. 2. The importance of raising awareness of preserving natural resources and orientation towards recycling, the ring economy, zero waste, low-carbon, and adopting sustainability.
3. The importance of attention to underwater and its relationship to address climate change. 4 – Attention to the cultural role and awareness of students all stages of nursery and their role in achieving sustainable development.
