Egyptian adventurer Ali Abdo leads the first global initiative to document the impact of climate change, titled The Ride to COP27, with his electric bicycle, with which he achieved Guinness World Records.
Awareness of people and reduction of emissions
The trip aims to document the impact of climate change on Egyptian society; To urge the world to reduce emissions, support communities affected by climate change, and encourage youth to participate in governmental and societal efforts to combat climate change and environmental pollution and adapt to climate change.

Abdo believes that climate change directly affects human life and that individuals’ behaviors must be changed to environmentally friendly ones to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, preserve the right of future generations to natural resources, and educate young people who are expected to lead climate action in the near future.

The activist’s journey in the field of sustainability and the environment started on June 4 from the Museum of Civilization in Cairo, through Ain Sukhna, Rashid, Baltim and the governorates of Ismailia, Port Said and Alexandria to Damietta, coinciding with the celebration of World Environment Day, to unite the efforts of all parties and persons working in the environmental field in Egypt to raise youth awareness of the crisis of change Climate, highlighting the efforts of the state, civil society, the private sector and individuals in preserving the environment, as well as promoting Egypt’s hosting of the Sharm El-Sheikh conference.

The United Nations Environment Program reported the initiative’s events within 5 events held around the world, and the Office of the United Nations Climate Champions supported the Egyptian Ali Abdo trip, and the events accompanying the Road to COP27 initiative varied between beach cleaning campaigns or tree planting, but the main goal of the initiative remains to raise awareness Environmental issues and climate change, and changing the behavior of individuals to sustainable practices that preserve the environment surrounding individuals and then the planet.

Ali Abdo is an Egyptian adventurer, activist in the field of sustainability and the environment and the holder of the world title of 3 records, as well as the ambassador of sustainable development and the first Arab to set a record on a motorcycle and the first Arab to set the record on an electric vehicle. He also founded the 100 Egypt Initiative and the About Egypt initiative on a motorcycle to encourage Individuals on domestic tourism to Egypt.
