Roberto Dipiazza receives the “Best Mayor in Italy” award during the Ecomondo 2025 ceremony in Rimini

In a festive atmosphere at the Ecomondo 2025 exhibition in Rimini, Roberto Dipiazza, the Mayor of Trieste, was honored with the “Best Mayor in Italy” award in recognition of his outstanding efforts in environmental sustainability and green governance.

The award was presented by Lucia Leonessi, Director General of Cisambiente Confindustria, and Giuseppina Cassoni, Prefect of Rimini, during a ceremony attended by prominent figures from the worlds of industry, politics, and scientific research.

Dipiazza received this recognition for his city’s pioneering environmental transformation projects, including the waste-to-energy plant operating with three production lines and a water treatment facility considered among the best in Europe.

Upon receiving the award, Dipiazza said:

“Trieste is a clean and efficient city, and its results are the outcome of careful and responsible management. We have proven that good governance can deliver both financial surplus and environmental success. This should be the model for the future of Italian cities.”

Ecomondo is one of the world’s leading platforms dedicated to environmental transition and the circular economy. It brings together industry leaders, policymakers, and the scientific community to explore the latest innovations in green technologies and sustainable solutions.
