Rimini, Italy -Mohamed Hassn

Transition Expo, one of Europe’s foremost international events dedicated to clean energy innovation and sustainable transition, concluded its 19th edition at the Rimini Expo Centre from March 4 to 6, 2026.

For three days, the expo transformed Rimini into a global hub for renewable energy technologies, efficiency solutions, green mobility, and smart city planning.

Organized by the Italian Exhibition Group, KEY 2026 welcomed hundreds of international companies, innovators, policymakers, investors, and industry experts working to accelerate decarbonization and sustainable economic growth.

Spanning seven interconnected exhibition sectors — from solar and wind to hydrogen, storage, and mobility — the event showcased integrated solutions shaping the energy future.

Expo Scope and Sectors:

The 2026 edition featured a comprehensive layout that occupied all halls of the Rimini Expo Centre, presenting:

  • Solar Expo & Conference (photovoltaics)
  • Wind Expo for MED (wind energy)
  • Key Storage Expo (energy storage solutions)
  • HYPE – Hydrogen Power Expo (hydrogen technologies)
  • Energy Efficiency Expo
  • eMobility Expo (electric and sustainable mobility)
  • Sustainable City (green urban solutions)

Alongside these, the Innovation District offered a dedicated space for start‑ups, open innovation, and cross‑sector R&D collaboration.

Lorenzo Cagnoni Innovation Awards

A centerpiece of the expo was the Lorenzo Cagnoni Innovation Award, presented on March 5 to companies and start‑ups with the most forward‑looking technologies and sustainable solutions across the expo’s seven thematic sectors.

The awards honor Italian and international excellence in advancing renewable energy, smart infrastructure, and efficient systems that support a circular, low‑carbon economy.

The ceremony featured leaders from the Italian Exhibition Group, energy associations, and innovation bodies, underscoring collaboration between industry, entrepreneurship ecosystems, and public institutions.

Winners included established firms and emerging innovators whose projects demonstrate measurable impact in solar, wind, hydrogen, energy storage, mobility, and sustainable cities.

Industry and Policy Engagement

In parallel with the exhibition, KEY hosted a robust conferences and summit program addressing major energy trends, market dynamics, and future strategies — including sessions on finance and investment tools, AI and digitalization in energy, energy regulation, and global decarbonization pathways.

Experts from academia, research institutions, and international organizations participated in discussions to forge knowledge exchange and guide policy frameworks supporting the transition.

Partnerships with global networks and programs — such as the Hosted Buyers initiative in collaboration with the ICE – Italian Trade Agency and foreign ministries — further strengthened international attendance, attracting energy professionals and delegations seeking new business opportunities.
