Gesenu Group continues its participation at Ecomondo 2025 in Rimini, highlighting the Umbria region’s success in developing more efficient and sustainable waste management systems.
Officials from the region and the city of Perugia presented initiatives that combine innovation and digitalization, such as the Pinqua urban regeneration project and a waste tracking system that enhances transparency. The company has also obtained ISO 14064 certification for reducing carbon emissions, reaffirming its commitment to environmental transformation and sustainability.
From November 4 to 7, 2025, Ecomondo will be organized by the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), highlighting the circular, green, and blue economies by bringing together companies, researchers, and institutions in a global dialogue.
Covering an exhibition area of 166,000 square meters, the event is divided into seven main thematic zones, each dedicated to a key aspect of the environmental transition.
In addition to its exhibition halls and thematic areas, sustainability professionals and stakeholders will have the opportunity to explore major topics in environmental transformation through the numerous conferences and forums scheduled during the event.
The Value of Political and Scientific Dialogue
The conference program, curated by the Ecomondo Scientific Technical Committee chaired by Professor Fabio Fava, will address essential topics covering all dimensions of sustainability.
In the site and soil restoration sector, the fourth edition of the General States of Soil Health – Circular Bioeconomy and Soil Regeneration Opportunities will take place in collaboration with Re Soil Foundation and the National Coordination on Bioeconomy, focusing on the latest updates in bioeconomy and new European policies such as the Soil Monitoring Law, the EU Bioeconomy Strategy, and the Farm-to-Fork Vision.
The event will also highlight the benefits of the EU Mission “A Soil Deal for Europe” at both European and national levels, along with an overview of projects linking soil health, agriculture, and innovation in Europe and Africa.
In the field of environmental monitoring and Earth observation, a session titled “From Sky to Earth: Earth Observation for the Sustainable Management of Critical Raw Materials”—organized by the Ecomondo Scientific Technical Committee with the Polytechnic University of Turin, CINECA, and the Italian Space Agency—will explore how Earth observation technologies and space data contribute to evaluating and managing environmental impacts and raw material supply chains.
Regarding resource efficiency and the circular economy, the conference “Technological Solutions for Resource Recovery from End-of-Life Products and Materials in the Mediterranean Context” will be organized by the Italian Chemical Society (CABC Division), ISWA International, and ATIA–ISWA Italy, to present technological innovations that promote resource reuse and generate environmental benefits across various economic sectors.
In the water cycle and blue economy sector, a two-session conference titled “European and Mediterranean Nature-Based, Digital, and Cyber-Physical Initiatives for Water Management Innovation” will be held, organized by the Ecomondo Scientific Technical Committee in collaboration with the European Commission, UTILITALIA, the National Institute for Water Research, the Polytechnic University of Marche, ISPRA, WATER4ALL, and Water Europe. The sessions will explore European and Mediterranean initiatives that combine nature-based, digital, and cyber-physical solutions for more efficient water management.
Innovative projects on water conservation, quality, distribution, treatment, and recycling will also be showcased to foster cooperation among institutions, researchers, and industries toward sustainable and resilient water management.
In the circular and regenerative bioeconomy domain, the conference “What Bioeconomy for the Next Generation? Education, Innovation, and Entrepreneurial Opportunities Across the Mediterranean and Africa” will be held by the Ecomondo Scientific Technical Committee in collaboration with the Italian Circular Bioeconomy Cluster, exploring the role of youth in the bioeconomy—between limited access to decision-making, rural-to-urban migration, and the need for new skills.
The event will also present initiatives aimed at creating attractive green jobs, supporting youth entrepreneurship, and enhancing multidisciplinary training, with special focus on the Mediterranean and Africa, where the sustainable promotion of biological resources can strengthen food security, employment, and social stability.
Finally, the “Africa Green Growth Forum: International Cooperation and Partnerships with the Mediterranean and Africa” will return to Ecomondo 2025.
