On Saturday, July 13, 2024, Minister Mohamed Shimi, the Minister of the Public Business Sector, paid his first visit to the factories of the Al-Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Company.
This visit underscores the government’s commitment to supporting the domestic automobile industry’s transition towards more sustainable and eco-friendly production.
The minister was accompanied by the leadership of the Al-Nasr Company, led by Dr. Khaled Shedid, the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
During the tour, the Minister closely inspected the company’s various production facilities, with a particular focus on the upgrades being made to accommodate new, more energy-efficient technologies.
Of special interest were the improvements to the paint, treatment, and Elpo (electrophoretic painting) lines, which play a crucial role in reducing the environmental impact of the manufacturing process.
The minister was pleased to see the company’s investment in state-of-the-art equipment and practices aimed at minimizing waste, lowering emissions, and conserving natural resources.
Beyond the ongoing infrastructure upgrades, the Minister also discussed Al-Nasr’s plans to expand its product portfolio to include fuel-efficient and fully electric vehicles.
“The government is committed to incentivizing the production of greener, more sustainable modes of transportation,” stated Minister Shimi.
“By supporting the development of advanced fuel injection systems and electric vehicle technologies, we can position Al-Nasr as a leader in the regional automotive industry’s shift towards a lower-carbon future.”
The visit provided a clear indication of the government’s holistic approach to nurturing the domestic automobile industry.
By coupling technological modernization with a focus on environmental sustainability, the state aims to ensure that the sector remains competitive, innovative, and aligned with global trends in automotive manufacturing.
“This is not just about boosting production numbers,” the Minister emphasized.
“It’s about building a sustainable, future-proof automotive industry that can meet the evolving demands of consumers and contribute to our nation’s broader environmental goals.”
As the Al-Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Company continues to implement its sustainability-driven growth strategy, the government will continue to provide targeted support, incentives, and policy frameworks to facilitate the industry’s transition towards greener and more energy-efficient technologies.
